Last month I travelled with a bunch of fellow London based Aussie mates to Morocco to embark on a 4 day trek through the Atlas Mountains. We landed in Marrakech on our first day and got an opportunity to explore the expansive medina of the old town.
Be prepared to lose yourself for a few hours in the Medina, as trying to remember the path you took is utterly impossible. The labyrinth of shops lead you to many different items on offer, and the sights and smells of the spices and food is amazing. If you’re looking to stay somewhere, definitely scope out the riads that litter the medina and are harder to find than a taxi late at night in Soho.
That market in the photo looks a lot like the ones in Guatemala.
A few years back I got hopelessly lost in Khan el-Khalili market in Cairo, it was crazy. But I will never forget all the sights, smells, the food, and everyone trying to rip me off. It was such good fun…
I’ve recently written an article on my trekking and travelling experiences in Morocco, and it is very hard to put down the experience of the souks into words.
It would be great if you could check out my travel blog, and possibly follow it like i am to yours, thanks

Hey Chris, I checked out your blog, those are some great photos of Morocco!
It’s one of my favourite countries I’ve visited so far and I’ll definitely be keen to return and see a different side of it again soon.
