This week marks 12 months since I started 48 Hour Adventure. It’s come a long way since I decided “hey, there’s nothing around on the web that provides just the right amount of info to help people travel on weekends to cities, let’s start a blog†and I’m super proud of the growth so far.
Since I launched in February 2010, I’ve posted eleven guides to European cities, providing valuable travel content to help you make the most of 48 hours/weekend away from the UK. I hope these really make it easier for you to plan and organise weekend trips, because I know how much of an uphill battle it can be researching flights, ground transport, accommodation etc after you get that “oh yeah, Berlin would be cool!†idea in your head.
Rest assured there are many more coming in 2011, with a solid list of destinations already planned in the coming months that I’ll be travelling to and writing about. You can expect the second part of 48 hours in Venice very soon, giving you a whirlwind insight into this incredible Italian city.
To compliment the 48 hour guides, I’m committed to helping make it easier for you guys to break out of the “beer, pizza and pints at the pub†routine on weekends by providing articles to inspire you and taking some of the guesswork out of planning the logistics of your trip.
Thanks a lot for all your support, links and retweets in the first year and I look forward to hearing all about your travel filled 2011!
– Justin
Congrats on 1 year! Your site is a fantastic idea since so many people only have a few short days in each destination. Keep it up!
Congrats on the year! Keep bringing up some great weekend features… they’re really useful and constructive!
Do you think there will be tax increases on flights during this year? ..
congratulations… wishing you more travels and more blogging success 🙂
@Anders I wouldn’t be surprised. Whether they’re imposed on airlines or the airports is yet to be seen.
Thanks for all the congratulations guys, appreciate it!
Hey Justin, Congratulations on your success. It’s not easy to blog for a year thus you’ve done very well to keep people like me (who works full time and doesn’t get to backpack year long) inspired with your quick weekend getaways. Keep up the great work!
Like the photos in your blog. Makes me want to resign from my job and work. …
Congratulations on your first year, cheers to the many more to come!
Hey Justin, well done for making a year! Many give up by now. Love the sight, looking forward to reading more great guides. Maybe i’ll even get the chance to join you on an excursion. Cheers, Si
Thanks heaps Sofia, Amer and Si!
Your guides are great! highly useful. thanks! 🙂
Recent reader here but I thought I’d come out to say hi and congrats! It’s a great idea for a blog. Hope to see more of the guides.
love the blog, do you have any posts/advice r.e the financial side of things. do you have any tips about budgeting when travelling?
Hey Kelly, stoked to hear you love the blog!
A few tips for keeping costs down that I’d recommend are:
– Buy beer/wine from supermarkets. It’s always way cheaper than out in bars.
– A lot of cities have 24/48/72 hour tourist cards. They usually include unlimited public transport and free/reduced entry to museums – great value.
– Check out hostelbookers.com and hostelworld.com before you go to find the best/cheapest hostels in each city.
– Eat from street food stalls (kebabs, pizza joints, etc). Not the healthiest, but a damn sight cheaper than eating in expensive restaurants.
Hope that helps, let me know if you have anymore questions!
